Highlights
The July 7 week was a good one for retailers according to ICSC-Goldman Sachs whose same-store sales index jumped 2.0 percent for a plus 3.0 percent year-on-year rate that's the highest in nearly 2 months. Behind the strength is hot weather, sparking demand for summer-related goods. The report notes that July doesn't usually start off this strong but that the month usually ends very strong as back-to-school demand kicks in. Redbook will post its weekly results later this morning at 8:55 a.m. ET.
