Highlights
Strength at discounters helped to boost ICSC-Goldman's same-store sales tally by 2.0 percent in the Jan. 16 week, boosting the year-on-year pace to plus 2.6 percent for the strongest pace since early December. But the report warns that January is a low volume month and is easily affected by small swings in demand. Citing low inventories and lack of consumer demand, ICSC-Goldman expects the month as a whole to be flat to up 1.0 percent.
