Highlights
Information services revenue fell 1.2 percent in the fourth quarter compared to the third quarter and was down 1.5 percent compared to the year-ago quarter. Technical services revenue fell 0.7 percent on the quarter but was up 2.8 percent on the year. Employment services revenue, hit hard by the labor contraction, was down 2.6 percent in the fourth quarter and was down 0.5 percent year-on-year. The employment services category, which offers a look at the temporary employment industry, is certain to be suffering continuing declines in the ongoing quarter.

Definition
The Census Bureau quarterly services survey focuses on information and technology-related service industries. These include information; professional, scientific and technical services; administrative & support services; and waste management and remediation services. These sectors correspond to three NAICS sectors (51, 54, and 56). The Quarterly Services Survey produces estimates of total operating revenue and the percentage of revenue by class of customer.  Why Investors Care
