Highlights
The winding down of state sales tax holidays and heavy markdowns depressed chain-store sales in the Aug. 15 week, according to ICSC-Goldman whose same-store sales index fell 0.9 percent for a year-on-year rate of minus 0.6 percent. The report expects full month sales to be down 3.5 to 4.0 percent compared to July. Redbook is up next.
