Highlights
Chain-store sales are weak but improving, helped in the Aug. 8 week by a later back-to-school season and a run of state tax holidays. ICSC-Goldman's tally was unchanged in the week and up 0.4 percent year-on-year vs. a minus 0.2 percent year-on-year rate in the prior week. The report sees sales improving in line with overall economic recovery. Redbook is up next.
